ONE GIFT

Beyond anything and everything imagined,
One special gift bestowed upon me.
Changes everything, making all things wonderful,
This gift has allowed me to see.
Opens doors, freeing feelings so long dormant,
This one gift is the key.
A blessing from above, such magnificent treasure,
This gift, rich in simplicity.
Meant to be cherished,  often gladly returned,
For so doing, it can again given be.

WHY?

Sometimes I wonder why?
Other times I lament, why not?
Each day the dispute is renewed,
Never adequately solved.
Why does the sun come up?
Why does it go down?
Each day we all do what we do.
Some of us face great burdens,
Some of us only face a few.
Some of us love passionately,
Others never love at all.
Some of us are satisfied,
Others are constantly searching.
Many face challenges courageously,
Others run.
Some things change,
Others stay the same.
Each day, each one of us goes on,
Sometimes facing happy, joyful opportunities,
Other times sorrowful, agonizing truths.
The question remains,
Why?  Or, should it be, why not?

The Me I See

Is that the real me I see,
In the glass reflected so realistically?
Hair frizzy and frazzled this day,
Sadly showing the beginning of gray.
Eyes of hazel flashing youth,
Framed with a wrinkle or two, revealing truth.
Circles obvious against alabaster skin,
Well formed lips above the chin.
Shaped in a smile, they often hide,
The inside fears of aging outside.
Always hoping it will not show,
The less taut skin of the neck below.
Alabaster turning to aged pale,
Before too long I'll need a veil.
Is that the new old me I see,
Or just the lights playing tricks on me?

Crossroads

If I could be where I wanted to be,
Where would that be?
Here at the crossroads, looking left,
Looking right, looking behind,
Waiting for the signal to go?
Would I rather be in the future,
Or, would I rather be where I am today?
Shouldn't I be glad for today?
Grateful for crossroads, grateful for opportunities.
I could turn left, I could turn right, then,
Where would I be?
Where I am, I am here now, always at crossroads.
Living, loving, hoping, learning, moving,
At different crossroads every day.
Choosing freely, always the right path,
Enjoying the trip.
That is where I want to be,
If I could be where I wanted to be.

Life?

I debated what should be a first post - so, went back into my own archives and decided to share this, such as it is:

LIFE

Many, many pieces.
Various colors, shapes –
In the beginning
Jumbled and mixed.
How will they fit?
Day by day, year after year
Sorting continues.
Matching colors, comparing shapes,
Only partially done.
Many, many pieces,
One homogeneous image
Gradually emerging.
Awaiting the final piece, long missing,
To be complete.
